Recently, Jiangsu Milky Way received another piece of good news from its overseas business sector. The 1,500 tons of 33kV high-voltage power transmission steel poles, custom-manufactured for a power engineering project in Zambia, have successfully completed production, quality inspection, loading and shipment, and have been delivered smoothly. This delivery once again demonstrates the company’s comprehensive strength in the African overseas power infrastructure market and marks a steady acceleration of its international development.
The 33kV high-voltage power transmission steel poles delivered to Zambia will mainly be used for local main transmission line construction, supporting regional power transmission as well as grid expansion and upgrading. Considering Zambia’s local environmental conditions, including humid and hot weather, significant temperature differences between day and night, and highly corrosive soil, the company selected high-quality carbon structural steel. The pole shafts adopt an integrated bending and welding process, ensuring uniform and dense weld seams as well as high structural strength. The surface is treated with thickened hot-dip galvanizing for corrosion protection, effectively resisting outdoor acid and alkali corrosion, wind and sand erosion, and extending the service life of the poles. The products are well suited to long-term operation in harsh outdoor environments across Africa.
In terms of production control, the company implemented standardized management throughout the entire process. Incoming raw materials were strictly inspected and tested to prevent substandard steel from entering production. During manufacturing, automated forming equipment was used to precisely control pole straightness, wall thickness, hole diameter and other key dimensions, ensuring controlled tolerances and qualified accuracy. Dedicated quality inspection positions were established for every process, including welding, grinding, galvanizing and coating. Multiple tests and inspections, such as visual inspection, load testing and anti-corrosion layer inspection, were strictly carried out to eliminate defective products and ensure that every steel pole delivered from the factory is stable, safe and reliable.
